The BMW 4 Series coupe first showed up at a car show in Detroit as the successor to the BMW 3 Series Coupe and the two cars are actually very similar. Here are some specifics about the new BMW 4 Series Coupe:
The only real exception noted is that it is wider and longer (182.7 inches) than the 3 Series and has two less doors. It is also said to have a sloping roofline and special air vents that are called Air Breathers that help improve its fuel usage and give it more miles to the gallon of fuel. The 4 Series has a wheelbase that measures 110.6 inches, which is two inches lengthier than the 3 Series.
It also comes with 20 inch alloy wheels with chrome trim and the usual signature style of BMW windows, along with L shaped tail lights, and some rumors say it may also end up having an LED tail light called a light tube for more efficiency. Most of the hype has been about its leather interior.
It has a six cylinder engine that is rated at getting 33 miles to the gallon fuel usage. The engine is 240 horse power rated and turbo charged and is also expected to have an upgraded model with 300 horse power turbo charged capacity and a 3.0 liter engine. However, diesel lovers should note that there isn’t expected to be a diesel model that meets U.S. specs.
There is a lot of talk about the BMW 4 Series Coupe leather interior too. Most everyone that has seen it has fallen in love with it. It has contrasting stitch lines along the dashboard, as well as hand braided trim on the seats. The coloring is a black and brown combo and the cup holders and floor mats are also leather with the hand braided trimming on it and embossed “BMW” lettering on it. It is very luxurious and gives it a real sense of style and fashion and is said by those who have seen it to be leather that is very soft and has a natural look and feel.
For those customers that are worried about being environmentally conscious, BMW officials have stated that the leather in the 4 Series Coupe has been tanned using an environmentally safe method. The interior itself is thought to be a little less innovative than some of the car’s other features; however, the leather interior is special and is what many newcomers to this car mention first when they see it.
The bottom line is that the new and upcoming BMW 4 Series is sleek and sexy in looks and between the innovative features and the luxurious leather interior, it is truly a car that any BMW enthusiast is sure to want to test drive once it appears at their BMW dealership. The 4 Series BMW Coupe hasn’t got a price tag as yet, but the 3 Series had a base price of close to $40,000.
