Books or eBooks? Several Tips on eBook Readers

Posted by Mariuca on 1/20/2014 to Other
Avid readers are probably torn between their passion for traditional books and the temptation of having a gadget that could enable them to carry an entire library with them all the time. Well, the answer is not really that difficult to this dilemma: there is no reason why you wouldn’t benefit from the advantages of modern technology and remain faithful to the good old books at the same time.

In fact, traditional books prove to be a better choice for certain situations. For instance, if you are going to the beach during your holiday, it will be a bit difficult to read on the screen in the bright light. Moreover, it is not exactly recommended to expose electronic gadgets to sunlight for too long. So, in such circumstances, even if eBook readers can have greyscale displays, a traditional book might be preferable.

Nevertheless, there is no reason to avoid technology. EBook readers such as Kindle Paperwhite or Kobo Glo actually provide an experience very similar to traditional reading. They are small enough to fit in a purse and also very light. More than that, as long as they are equipped with built-in lights, you can read eBooks even in the dark. They are very comfortable to use in different environments, sometimes even more comfortable than regular books – no need to worry about the wind turning your page. Then, a great advantage of eBook readers is that they can provide instant access to an enormous amount of eBooks, classics, as well as the latest releases in every domain.

If you have decided that you do want to purchase an eBook reader, take into account all these aspects and look for the model that will best meet your expectations: does it have gray-scale display and built-in lights? How long does the battery last? These are some of the main questions you should ask before buying an eBook reader.
