Leather
One of the things that's always in style is leather. From messenger bags to jackets, dusters to
duffels, leather is, has and will always be fashionable. While there are definitely some particular fashion trends involving leather that are out, such as fringed jackets, leather as a material is always in.
What Makes Leather So Great?
There are a lot of factors that have gone into leather to make it nearly bulletproof as a fashion statement. The first is that leather is expensive, which makes is a status symbol. Whether it's a labskin jacket or a smooth, hide travel bag, people associate leather with someone that has status, taste and often money.
The next reason that leather is so often in style is because it's a durable, long lasting material. Excluding more delicate types of leather goods, boots, bags, belts and nearly anything else made of leather tends to be an investment. Coupled hand in hand with this is that leather is, more often than not, a beautiful material. Leather can also be made with a variety of different textures, dyed nearly any color, and this makes it versatile on top of everything else.
Black, Brown and Otherwise
When someone is investing in leather goods, it's important to keep in mind that leather lasts a long time if properly taken care of. So an article of clothing, or a piece of luggage, might last for a dozen years instead of just one or two. It's important to take a good, long look at what someone is spending before that person decides to shell out the sort of money that real, quality leather demands as its price.
For that reason it is important that people who really want a leather look keep in mind that fads and trends pass. A bright yellow jacket with 8 balls on the sleeves might be in now, but how long will that last? Simple, straightforward styles with classic colors are a savvy shopper's best bet when getting leather. Otherwise what is someone's pride and joy today might be a back-of-the-closet embarrassment come the next shopping season.
